Situation

Approximately 500 million high-quality carbon brushes are manufactured per year. New electrically operated servo spiral presses are used to optimize the process.  

Problem

The brake energy is wasted as heat. The dynamic of the machine is pushed to its limits.

Goal

Increasing the energy efficiency and reducing peak demands, thus raising the dynamics of the press.

The use of two active energy management devices PxtFX connected in parallel stabilizes the DC link by storing brake energy and feeding it back in immediately when required.

The DC link is stabilized by the active energy management device PxtFx storing the braking energy and immediately feeding it back in when required.
