The engine of a ship drives its propeller blades, so that they move through the water at a high speed. The propeller influences every
phase of the ship‘s behavior – driving, comfort, speed, acceleration, service lifetime of the engine and safety. The torque of the engine is converted into thrust.
Speed is reduced depending on the driving situation. The propeller acts as a generator in this situation.
The brake energy generated should be safely and quickly dissipated by an external brake resistor.
The brake energy generated when reducing the speed is safely dissipated via the brake resistor and doesn‘t cause any damage to the motor.
