The aim of the DDM 4.0 Dynamic Discharge Manager is to further increase the safety of electrical energy management systems. In conjunction with a suitable in-house braking resistor, the DDM 4.0 ensures that large capacitor or supercapacitor capacities can be discharged very quickly and, above all, safely to a voltage level of only ten volts. If required, the DDM 4.0, in conjunction with the built-in active energy management system PxtRX, takes 3.5 kilowatts of power in the standard setting and feeds it into the matching ohmic resistor of type B3H3.6100-1000IP65. Due to its high degree of protection, the 13 kilogram safe braking resistor is placed outside the control cabinet and can therefore dissipate the heat generated easily.
The DDM 4.0 can be activated via the digital input, by switch or from a higher-level control system, and is equipped with features that ensure the safety of the system and thus the necessary priority for personnel at all times. This means that maintenance or conversion work on large energy management systems is not only safer, but can also be carried out after a previously unknown short waiting time. This means, for example, that capacities with an energy quantity of one megajoule, which corresponds to that of a medium-sized active energy management system KTS from us, can be brought to the harmless voltage level of ten volts in a maximum of 310 seconds. Depending on the application, the discharge capacity and thus also the safe braking resistor can be adapted to special requirements.
The Dynamic Discharge-Manager 4.0 is the perfect supplement for capacitor banks with energy capacity up to a good two megajoules that are controlled by one or more PxtRX energy management devices.
